Nothing signals the start of the holiday season on the barrier islands quite like twinkling lights wrapped around palm trunks and creatively decorated golf carts humming through the heart of the village. After a hiatus following recent storm recoveries, the Captiva Holiday Golf Cart Parade 2026 is officially making its long-awaited comeback on Saturday, December 5, 2026.
Organized under the leadership of the Captiva Civic Association (CCA), the revival of this cherished event marks another joyful milestone in Captiva’s ongoing renaissance. The parade serves as the spirited daytime kickoff for the island’s signature Luminary Festival, drawing residents, second-home owners, local business operators, and visitors together to celebrate the season with true coastal flair.
At the LeAneSuarezGroup, we know that Captiva’s unique appeal is deeply intertwined with its small-town traditions and golf-cart-friendly village culture. Festive community gatherings like this showcase the tight-knit camaraderie, relaxed elegance, and timeless charm that make owning property on Captiva so rewarding.
A Cherished Tradition Reimagined: What to Expect
Historically born out of the Captiva Holiday Village festivities, the Golf Cart Parade has always brought out the island’s finest imagination. Participants routinely transform standard low-speed vehicles into rolling holiday floats—featuring everything from giant illuminated junonia shells and motorized sleighs to tropical palm trees, pink flamingos in Santa hats, and sea-life winter wonderlands.

Golf Cart Culture: The Beating Heart of Captiva Village
On Captiva, golf carts aren’t just for recreation—they represent a quintessential way of life. Within the Village, street-legal low-speed vehicles (LSVs) serve as the primary mode of transportation for hopping between morning coffee at Latte Da, shelling excursions along the beach, and dinner at The Mucky Duck or RC Otter’s.
Reviving the parade reinforces the pedestrian- and cart-friendly atmosphere that homeowners cherish and that prospective real estate buyers seek when exploring island properties.
