Sanibel Captiva “Let’s Pink Out” Breast Cancer Awareness Gala”

The LeAneSUAREZGroup was one of the key sponsors for the Let’s Pink Out Sanibel Captiva Pink-A-Ball gala held on Saturday, October 9th at Sundial Beach Resort and Spa.

Pink Out

Let’s Pink Out raises funds for uninsured and underinsured residents and employees of Sanibel and Captiva islands who need mammograms and assistance with other cancer-related needs.

2021 marked the 10th year for the organization which has grown from a simple picnic table at the Sanibel Fire Station during the month of October to a month-long affair with a variety of wonderful community events.

LeAne and the entire Suarez family were honored to support the breast cancer needs of their community and especially support John R. Wood Properties very own staff member and breast cancer survivor, Ann Neubauer.

Southwest Florida Real Estate Market Report 2021

Closed Sales
Closed sales for the 12-month period ending November 30 were up 30% from the preceding 12-months, from 30,675 to 39,641. Year-to-date, closed sales posted a 28% increase over the same period last year. Sales for the month of November, although down 18% from the unprecedented surge we experienced last year, were up 37% when compared to pre-pandemic levels of the three preceding years.

Listing Inventory / New Listings
With 2,229 properties on the market as of November 30, listing inventory has decreased somewhat since a modest increase that occurred over the summer. New listings for the 12-month period ending November 30 were down 4% from the preceding 12 months, from 38,145 to 36,554. For the month of November, new listings were down 13% from last year, and down 33% from the average of the three preceding years.

Average Selling Price
The average selling price for the 12-months through November 30 was $630,814, up 25% from the preceding 12-month period when the average selling price was $502,766.

Summary
After listing inventory posted modest growth in late spring and over the summer months, the number of listing on the market has declined somewhat due to a slower than usual pace of listings entering the market in October and November. The fall and early winter months are typically the slowest for new listings, and the rate at which listings enter the market for those months tends to vary from year to year. Although there’s little doubt that low standing inventory has constrained sales to some degree, closed sales for October and November were still up 33% compared to pre-pandemic levels. The busiest months for new listings are January through March and, if history is any indication, an increase in new listings over the next few months will fuel the market by further satisfying continued exceptionally strong demand.

It is my pleasure to inform you that John R. Wood Properties continues to lead the Southwest Florida market in closed dollar volume and closed units!

DDWS announces rollout events for limited-edition beer

As part of its 40th anniversary celebration, the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge will roll out its limited-edition Wild Daze Ale on Dec. 4 starting at 4 p.m. at the Fort Myers Brewing Co. in Fort Myers, with island events to follow throughout the month.

The outdoor stations of the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge’s Wildlife on Wheels mobile interactive experience will be onsite, along with food trucks, music, trivia games and other goings-on.

The brew — a smooth and light-bodied golden ale with a subtle hint of sweetness — will be available for a limited time of about six months after its rollout, depending upon how long supplies last.

Bailey’s General Store, Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grill, Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts and The Timbers Restaurant & Fish Market will sell it on Sanibel and Captiva, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the conservation, research, education and land acquisition efforts at the Sanibel refuge.

Bailey’s will host tasting events on Dec. 8-9 and Dec. 18-19 from 2 to 6 p.m. and will set up a table with information about the refuge and DDWS. For the Dec. 18-19 events, the WoW outreach experience will be on site from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Chaired by April Boehnen of the DDWS, the Wild Daze Committee commissioned native Miami Latina artist Emily Alvarez to design the label for the beer. Throughout December, the Refuge Nature Store’s locations — at the refuge and 2250 Periwinkle Way, plus online at ShopDingDarling.com — will carry special Wild Daze Ale merchandise based on Alvarez’s art.

For more information, visit dingbeer.com or contact Boehnen at 239-472-1100, ext. 4.
