The pristine autumn weather along Florida’s Gulf coast provides the perfect backdrop for one of the island’s most highly anticipated sporting events. Registration remains officially open for athletes and amateurs alike who wish to participate in the upcoming SCA Tennis Tournament Sanibel, scheduled for next weekend. Hosted by the premier Beachview Tennis Club and benefiting the Sanibel Community Association (SCA), the two-day athletic fundraiser will take place on Saturday, November 14, and Sunday, November 15, 2026. Taking to the courts at 1101 Par View Drive, players will enjoy a weekend of friendly competition, local culinary treats, and community bonding, all while raising vital operational funds for the island’s historic Community House.
Secure Your Spot in the SCA Tennis Tournament Sanibel
For residents and visitors looking to test their backhand for a great cause, the strict deadline to register is Wednesday, November 11. Participants can enter for $100 per person for a single day of play, or maximize their court time by registering for both tournament days for a discounted rate of $150 per person. To secure a spot on the official bracket, interested players are encouraged to directly contact Beachview Tennis Club owner and dedicated Tournament Organizer Toni Halski at (239) 472-9009.
Beyond the thrill of competition, all registered participants will receive an exclusive commemorative event T-shirt, generously sponsored by the Sanibel Captiva Community Bank. At the conclusion of the matches, the top-performing athletes across various divisions will be awarded official trophies to celebrate their on-court achievements.
Food, Festivities, and Island Hospitality
While this officially marks only the second consecutive year that the Sanibel Community Association is directly hosting the event, SCA Executive Director Emily Ankerson noted that the tournament itself is built upon a beloved, long-standing athletic tradition on the island. Noting that the inaugural iteration of the event successfully attracted more than 40 enthusiastic players, she expects another fantastic turnout this year.
To keep the athletes energized and the spectators entertained, the SCA Tennis Tournament Sanibel will feature a robust spread of complimentary food and beverages throughout the weekend. Each morning and afternoon, all participating athletes and their cheering sections will be treated to light breakfast items and a catered lunch. This impressive culinary spread is made possible through the generous donations of renowned local island establishments, including Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille, the Lazy Flamingo, Sanibel Deli, and Jerry’s Foods. Adding a festive, celebratory twist to this year’s proceedings, the tournament will also debut a brand-new mimosa and Bloody Mary bar for adult attendees to enjoy between sets.
Supporting The Community House Through Active Living
As an avid tennis player herself, Ankerson is particularly passionate about this specific fundraiser. She plans to hit the courts alongside her family, noting, “Ivy and I will be playing doubles together and my husband and I play mixed doubles. We are a tennis family.”
While the Sanibel Community Association traditionally relies on massive, large-scale annual fundraisers such as the highly formal island Gala and the internationally recognized Sanibel Shell Festival the tennis tournament offers a refreshingly distinct atmosphere. Ankerson enjoys this event specifically because of its smaller, more intimate scale, which allows residents to enjoy the beautiful outdoor Florida weather while engaging in a healthy, active sport. “It’s a little bit of a different vibe. It’s fun and active, and very relaxed and laid back,” she explained.
Every dollar raised during the weekend tournament will be directed straight into the essential programming and daily operations of The Community House. As a dedicated nonprofit organization, the SCA relies heavily on the continuous support of its members, private donors, and local corporate sponsors to keep its doors open and its community calendar full.
“All the fundraising we do helps keep us going,” Ankerson emphasized. “For a very long time, we were always the center of activity on the island. Now it feels like we are back to being the center of activity again, which is great.” For local businesses looking to gain visibility while supporting a worthy cause, event sponsorships are still actively being accepted. Interested parties can contact The Community House directly at (239) 472-2155 or via email at emily@sanibelcommunityhouse.net.
This emphasis on community health, active outdoor lifestyles, and local resilience aligns perfectly with the broader revival happening across the barrier islands this season.
