We received the latest newsletter from South Seas Island Resort providing some insights into The Next Chapter of South Seas Island Resort.
Although the resort remains closed, their efforts have shifted from restoring access and utilities to the property, as well as undertaking an extensive debris clean-up, to expediting our recovery efforts and making arrangements for rebuilding. This shift has occurred over the past five months since the storm hit.
Since many structures were not recoverable and posed significant life safety risks in the immediate aftermath of the storm, we made the tough decision to take these down in order to provide a safe environment when owners and guests start returning to the island. These buildings include:
- Resort Reception
- Resort Executive Office
- Tennis and Pickleball Courts
- Landscape Office
- Bayside Marina Bait, Tackle & Supply Store
- Golf Pro Shop
- Kings Crown Building (Scoops & Slices)
As the Resort has commenced construction and continues debris removal, we kindly request that visitors and residents avoid restricted and/or fenced areas for their own safety. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this policy while visiting or working on your property. The resort aims to achieve the status of the top family resort destination in the U.S. and we are excited about the new vertical structures and amenity areas that will contribute to this goal. To create the ultimate resort experience, they have planned several major initiatives, including the recent announcement of an expansive water amenity complex situated near the resort’s main entrance.
- Captiva Landing will be located at the former reception area and will feature an array of all-new water amenities and amusements including the Gulf Stream meandering lazy river, Camp-tiva Kids Club, Bottlenose Bay water play area, The Cove a quiet, relaxed resort pool, Flippers arcade and quick-serve restaurant, and an improved South Marina servicing all your watersport and fishing experiences.
In addition to Captiva Landing the following other initiatives are in the planning process, all designed to enhance the resort experience.
