Chick-fil-A Cypress Lake Fort Myers: Modernizing a Local South Fort Myers Staple

The wait is over for fans of the “Original Chicken Sandwich” in South Fort Myers. On February 19, 2026, the Chick-fil-A Cypress Lake Fort Myers officially reopened its doors at the southwest corner of U.S. 41 and Cypress Lake Drive. After a nearly five-month closure for extensive renovations, the restaurant has been transformed into a high-capacity, modern facility designed to better serve the heavy traffic demands of the Tamiami Trail corridor.

Engineering a Better Customer Experience

Franchise owner Peter Glanvill, who took the helm in 2023, spearheaded the project with a singular focus: efficiency. While the building maintains its original footprint, the internal and external flow has been completely re-engineered.

1. Enhanced Traffic Flow and Drive-Thru Efficiency

One of the most significant changes at the Chick-fil-A Cypress Lake Fort Myers is the installation of a permanent double drive-thru lane.

  • The Canopy System: The new layout features a high-tech canopy ordering system. This not only protects employees from the intense Southwest Florida summer sun but also speeds up the ordering process during peak lunch and dinner rushes.

  • Access and Egress: The site has moved to a more logical traffic pattern, utilizing dedicated “entrance-only” and “exit-only” points to reduce congestion on Cypress Lake Drive.

2. Interior Remodel and Kitchen Expansion

In a move reflecting modern dining trends, the restaurant removed its indoor playground to make way for high-priority operational needs.

  • Catering Capacity: By reclaiming the playground area, the restaurant expanded its kitchen and prep zones. This allows the team to significantly increase its catering volume—a vital service for local businesses and community events in Fort Myers.

  • Dining Room Upgrades: The interior now features an expanded seating area with contemporary finishes, providing a more comfortable environment for those who prefer to dine in.

  • Infrastructure Overhaul: Beyond the cosmetics, the building received a new roof, upgraded HVAC systems, and an entirely new kitchen layout designed for maximum production.

Supporting the Local Workforce

The Chick-fil-A Cypress Lake Fort Myers is a significant employer in Ward 1, with a staff of approximately 105 people. During the renovation period which began in October 2025, the leadership team demonstrated a commitment to their staff by relocating them to other Southwest Florida locations or sending them to assist with new restaurant startups across the country.

This “people-first” approach ensured that the majority of the team returned for the February relaunch, bringing a high level of proficiency and professional training back to the Cypress Lake community.

The Soft Relaunch Strategy

True to the brand’s focus on quality, the reopening was handled as a “soft relaunch.” Aside from the marquee message, there were no grand banners or aggressive marketing campaigns. This intentional approach allows the new computer systems and redesigned kitchen flow to be tested and perfected as awareness grows organically through word-of-mouth.
