Thrilling 3-Day Spectacle: 1 Roar Offshore Fort Myers Beach Return Set for Sept. 11–13

The anticipated Roar Offshore Fort Myers Beach return is officially scheduled for September 11–13, 2026, bringing premier high-speed powerboat racing back to the island for the first time in five years. Anchored around the newly opened Margaritaville Beach Resort as its presenting sponsor, the three-day festival themed “Reborn on the Gulf” serves as a major milestone celebrating the island’s ongoing recovery and economic resilience following Hurricane Ian.

The high-octane weekend will gather top national and international offshore powerboat racing teams to compete along the shoreline of the Gulf. As municipal planners, emergency personnel, and event organizers finalize race logistics, the island is gearing up for a substantial influx of sports tourists, racing crews, and motorsport enthusiasts.

Navigating Permits, Logistics, and Island Infrastructure

While excitement builds across Lee County, organizers and municipal officials are diligently coordinating logistical details to ensure a safe, well-managed event. The special event permit which encompasses detailed plans for traffic routing, dedicated parking, spectator security, and public restroom facilities is undergoing final review by the Fort Myers Beach Town Council. Concurrently, the U.S. Coast Guard is preparing to issue its final marine event permit in the coming weeks to establish formal safety zones along the offshore racecourse.

To handle peak weekend visitor volume without disrupting daily island life, the event coordination framework includes:

  • Designated Traffic Management: Staggered shuttle corridors and managed parking passes to streamline flow near the Matanzas Pass Bridge and Estero Boulevard.

  • On-Site Safety Protocols: Marine safety vessels, emergency medical teams, and Coast Guard escorts lining the perimeter of the high-speed course.

  • Public Amenity Arrays: Temporary restroom trailers, trash management teams, and dedicated beach access lanes situated near key viewing zones.

Event Schedule: Race Village, Time Trials, and Mainstage Races

The Roar Offshore Fort Myers Beach return features a packed three-day schedule designed to keep fans connected to the action on and off the water. The official Race Village opens at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, giving spectators an up-close look at multi-engine powerboats, interactive vendor exhibits, driver meet-and-greets, and pit garage walk-throughs.

The weekend schedule includes key highlights:

  1. Friday, Sept. 11 (Arrivals & Testing): Team check-ins, mandatory boat inspections, official course testing runs, and evening welcome parties across local dining venues.

  2. Saturday, Sept. 12 (Qualifying & Speed Cat Runs): Time trial qualifying heats, high-speed speed cat runs, and live beachfront music performances.

  3. Sunday, Sept. 13 (National Championship Heat Races): High-stakes divisional heat races along the Gulf shoreline, culminating in the official awards ceremony at Margaritaville’s License to Chill Theatre.

Boosting the Off-Peak Island Economy

Hosting a national-caliber racing event in mid-September provides a vital economic boost for Fort Myers Beach businesses during a traditionally slow shoulder season. Hotel operators, outdoor dining establishments, water sports rentals, and local retail shops are preparing for full bookings as thousands of visitors fill room nights across the island.

Roar Offshore Event Summary

Spectator Tip: Beachfront viewing is free along designated public shoreline zones; VIP pass holders receive access to elevated viewing decks and reserved dining seating at Margaritaville Beach Resort.
