World-Class Artistry: 36th American Sand Sculpting Championship Fort Myers Beach Returns

The American Sand Sculpting Championship Fort Myers Beach returns for its 36th annual edition from November 19 to November 23, 2026, transforming the pristine coastline behind DiamondHead Beach Resort (2000 Estero Blvd.) into an open-air fine arts gallery. Presented by the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with The Sand Lovers, LLC, the prestigious five-day festival is set to bring together master artists and thousands of spectators to the white-sand shores along the Gulf.

Serving as a signature cultural and tourism pillar, the championship plays an essential role as the barrier island continues revitalizing its visitor economy and local business community. This year’s official theme, “Stars, Stripes & Sand: Sculpting the American Story,” honors America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, challenging competitors to sculpt massive, intricate tributes to the nation’s history, culture, and iconic milestones.

Elite Global Talent Headlining the American Sand Sculpting Championship Fort Myers Beach

The 2026 competition will showcase an elite roster of 29 world-renowned sculptors hailing from 10 U.S. states and five countries. The field includes 12 Master sculptors and 12 Advanced Amateur competitors, alongside open amateur categories, all competing for top honors and cash prizes.

Attendees visiting the championship will experience a wide array of interactive daily attractions:

  • Master & Advanced Amateur Competitions: Watch world-class sculptors transform tons of compacted sugar sand into breathtaking architectural and figurative works of art.

  • Quick Sand Demonstrations: Fast-paced, head-to-head sculpting speed battles that showcase professional techniques in real time.

  • Amateur Contest & Youth Sand Play Area: Dedicated hands-on sand play zones where kids and families can learn fundamentals and build their own custom creations.

  • Artisan Vendor Village & Live Entertainment: A curated lineup of local food vendors, craft beverage stations, live musical performances, and coastal merchandise booths operating daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Driving Tourism and Island Economic Momentum

Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce President Jacki Liszak emphasized the cultural and economic importance of the event, noting that the historic theme provides an opportunity to celebrate both the extraordinary skill of the sculptors and the resilient spirit of the local community.

Because the island is still rebuilding its overall lodging inventory, the Chamber is actively urging traveling attendees, judges, and families to secure hotel rooms and vacation rental accommodations well in advance. Nearby beachfront dining, water sports charters, and retail shops throughout the Estero Island corridor anticipate significant economic activity during the pre-Thanksgiving weekend.
