Live Music in Paradise: Island Hopper Songwriter Fest Returns to Sanibel & Captiva

Ranked as the top music festival in the nation by the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest returns this September for ten days of live music, acoustic storytelling, and coastal entertainment.

Presented by the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau, iHeartMedia, and Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), the festival gathers BMI’s premier singer-songwriters for more than 60 free performances across the barrier islands, beaches, and historic neighborhoods of Southwest Florida. Attendees get an up-close look into the art of songwriting, hearing the real-life inspirations behind hit songs spanning country, folk, pop, and alt-rock.

At the LeAneSuarezGroup, we view vibrant cultural celebrations like Island Hopper as a major component of the Southwest Florida lifestyle. Bringing nationally acclaimed musical talent directly to local resort pool decks, village patios, and beachfront venues enriches our community fabric and showcases the unique charm of our coastal neighborhoods.

Official 2026 Island Hopper Tour Dates & Locations

The festival moves through four distinct regional hubs across Lee County, giving music fans the opportunity to “island-hop” from one scenic coastal setting to the next:

What Makes the Festival Special: Songwriters in the Round

Unlike traditional stadium concerts, the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest emphasizes intimate, storyteller-format performances. Artists take the stage in rounds—trading acoustic songs, explaining the personal memories that sparked their lyrics, and interacting directly with the audience in open-air settings.

While the majority of the 60+ performances are completely free to the public, select poolside headliner concerts and exclusive songwriter workshops require advance ticket purchases.
