Chamber Hosts Ribbon-Cutting for Sanibel Arms West’s Grand Reopening

The Sanibel & Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 10 to celebrate the reopening and expansion of Sanibel Arms West, a major milestone in the island’s ongoing post-hurricane recovery efforts.

Located at 832 E. Gulf Drive, Sanibel Arms West has reintroduced 67 newly renovated units to the island’s lodging inventory, with an additional 32 units expected by mid-summer.

“It’s always a great day when we can welcome more accommodations to the islands’ post-hurricane recovery efforts,” said Chamber President and CEO John Lai. “Sanibel Arms West brings both Gulf-front and bayfront lodging to the ever-growing options on Sanibel.”

A Legacy Reimagined

Originally developed in 1973, Sanibel Arms West is known for its two-bedroom condo-style accommodations. Recent renovations include the full restoration of 57 first-floor units, along with modern updates to enhance the guest experience.

According to Board President Gail Stine, the upgraded amenities now include:

  • A refurbished tennis court

  • Two dedicated pickleball courts

  • A heated pool with screened enclosure

  • A brand-new elevated boardwalk providing direct beach access

  • Two additional beach access points with a ramp and sandy path

  • A grilling area

  • Refurbished shuffleboard courts

Additional Enhancements Underway

Sanibel Arms West continues to invest in property improvements. Ongoing projects include:

  • A new fitness room

  • Renovated community room

  • Boat dock restoration

  • Updated landscaping and lighting

With both Gulf and bayfront units, the property is positioned to offer a variety of options for visitors seeking a beachfront getaway.
