Swim, Bike & Run in Paradise: Registration Opens for the South Seas Captiva Island Triathlon

Athletes and fitness enthusiasts from across Florida and beyond are gearing up for one of Southwest Florida’s most scenic athletic events. Registration is officially open for the annual South Seas Captiva Island Triathlon, taking place on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

Hosted by the iconic South Seas resort and professionally produced by Game On Race Events, this USA Triathlon-sanctioned weekend provides a beginner-friendly yet competitive race course. Participants will plunge into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, cycle along a dedicated course fully closed to vehicular traffic, and complete a picturesque coastal run.

Major sporting events like the Captiva Triathlon celebrate the natural beauty of our coastlines, bring vibrant energy to local businesses, and offer a world-class experience for residents and visiting athletes alike.

Five Race Formats for Every Fitness Level

Whether you are an experienced triathlete aiming for a personal record or a first-time multisport competitor, the event features five distinct race formats designed to accommodate solo athletes and teams alike:

  [ SUPER SPRINT TRI ] ──► 200-Yard Swim | 5-Mile Bike | 1.5-Mile Run
  [ SPRINT TRIATHLON ] ──► 0.25-Mile Swim | 10-Mile Bike | 3.1-Mile (5K) Run
  [ SPRINT DUATHLON ]  ──► 1-Mile Run | 10-Mile Bike | 3.1-Mile (5K) Run
  [ SPRINT AQUABIKE ]  ──► 0.25-Mile Swim | 10-Mile Bike (No Run)
  [ TRIATHLON RELAY ]  ──► 2- or 3-Person Teams covering the Sprint Triathlon Course

Race Day Schedule & Important Traffic Advisory

To ensure athlete safety throughout the bicycle and running legs, Captiva Drive will close at Blind Pass beginning at 6:45 AM on race morning and will reopen promptly at 9:00 AM. Spectators and participants traveling from Sanibel must cross onto Captiva prior to the 6:45 AM cutoff.

Medals & Awards: Every participant crossing the finish line receives a custom medal. Trophies and podium awards will be presented three deep across overall, age groups (ages 15 & under through 80+), para, athena, clydesdale, masters, and relay divisions.

Registration Fees & Resort Accommodations

Registration is open online through race morning on September 27. Early registration is recommended, as rates increase after August 22, 2026:

  • Super Sprint Tri: $129 (Increases after Aug. 22)

  • Sprint Triathlon, Duathlon & Aquabike: $149 (Increases after Aug. 22)

  • Sprint Triathlon Relay Team: $239 (Increases after Aug. 22)

Competitors and families booking accommodations directly at South Seas (5400 Plantation Road, Captiva) gain full resort guest access and can enjoy weekend event programming throughout the 330-acre property.

The event is backed by title sponsor South Seas, alongside platinum sponsors Lee County Sports Development and Lee Health, with additional support from Florida Roof Restorations, Natives of Corkscrew, and Trek Southwest Florida.
