Southwest Florida Reading Festival 2026: A Celebration of Literacy

The Southwest Florida Reading Festival 2026 is a premier outdoor event dedicated to the power of reading and the promotion of library services. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the library grounds will be bustling with presentations, book signings, and interactive activities designed to inspire readers of every generation.

As residents and professionals in the Fort Myers area, the LeAne SUAREZ Group values the educational and social impact this festival has on our region. It is not just an event; it is a cornerstone of our community’s commitment to lifelong learning.

The 2026 Author Lineup: Bestsellers and Fan Favorites

This year’s Southwest Florida Reading Festival 2026 boasts a star-studded roster of writers. Whether you enjoy gripping thrillers, historical fiction, or lighthearted rom-coms, there is a featured author for you.

  • Adult Fiction Giants: Meet legendary authors Wally Lamb and Brad Thor, along with Kristin Harmel, Sarah Pekkanen, and Lisa Wingate.

  • Rom-Com Returns: Popular teen and adult writer Lynn Painter returns to the festival due to high demand.

  • Youth & Children’s Creators: Families can meet Dan Gutman (creator of the My Weird School series), Greg Pizzoli, and Stephen Shaskan.

New for 2026: Virtual Queuing for Book Signings

To enhance the attendee experience, the Southwest Florida Reading Festival 2026 is introducing a cutting-edge virtual line-management tool. Instead of standing in long lines, fans can:

  1. Scan a QR code or use the festival’s mobile app to join a virtual queue.

  2. Enjoy the festival by attending other presentations or visiting the food vendors.

  3. Receive a text alert when it is their turn to enter the signing tent.

Empowering the Next Generation of Readers

Thanks to a charitable gift from the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation, every child and teen who attends the festival will receive a free book. This initiative, supported by the Jacarlene Foundation and Florida Humanities, helps instill a love for reading at an early age—an investment in our community’s future that we at the LeAne SUAREZ Group wholeheartedly support.

Beyond the Books: Interactive Fun

The festival has expanded its Local Author Marketplace, featuring over 20 Florida-based writers. Other highlights include:

  • Technology Demos: Explore the latest e-resources and library tech.

  • Arts & Crafts: Creative stations for all ages.

  • Food & Merchandise: A variety of local vendors and official festival gear.

Local Expert Note: The Fort Myers Regional Library is located in the heart of the historic downtown district at 2450 First St. If you’re visiting from Sanibel or Captiva, make a day of it! Enjoy the festival, then explore the nearby River District for lunch. It’s the perfect way to experience the vibrancy of Fort Myers.
